God will never let us down or disappoint us

Hmmm. The election looms large. There is much feverish campaigning from all parties and promises abound.  Billions of pounds promised to be given to or cut back on for this, that and the other.

Confusing though it sometimes is, it is our responsibility to consider carefully and make a decision for one party or another even if we do not feel completely confident.  Some of the promises for whoever wins will be able to be kept but there are others that possibly will not be able to be fulfilled in the wider political arena.

My father was a newsagent when I was a child. A lady once came into the shop with a doll she had knitted. I looked at that doll and so wanted one for myself. The lady promised she’d make me one.  Every day I waited for that lady to come back in with my doll, but she never did. I have never forgotten the disappointment I felt. ( I have forgiven her by the way!).   Sadly we have probably all made promises in the past we haven’t been able to keep or have even forgotten we made and it’s something we must seek to be careful about especially in moments of enthusiasm.

God, however, will never let us down or disappoint us. If he says something he means it.  Psalm 145:13 says ‘ The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does’.

He has never let me down and I know he never will.  That is what fills me with confidence for my future.
