Hopes & Dreams
Writing in the midst of the UK heatwave, I’m dreaming of a refreshing dip in the sea at one of our fantastic local beaches. But for many, the hot weather is far more serious, potential life threatening. My prayers go out to those are being deeply affected by the extreme temperatures throughout the country, and indeed, around the world.
The Bible’s authors were well acquainted with working in heat of the Mediterranean sun, looking forward to the day when believers from every nation will gather around the heavenly throne of God, when “They will never again be hungry or thirsty; they will never be scorched by the heat of the sun.” (Revelations 7:16 NLT). Hunger. Thirst. Climate. Big world issues we care about today. Big world issues that Jesus has always passionately cared about. One day, “God will wipe every tear from their eyes” (Revelations 7:17 NLT). But until that day comes, we’re invited to be part of the solution, not the problem, to “love our neighbour as ourselves,” as Jesus said (Matthew 22:39 NLT).
Blessings
