A COVENANT SERVICE – Communion with Covenant Prayer
Communion is a meal that reminds us of Jesus’s sacrifice upon the cross, which Jesus spoke of as he shared the Last Supper with his disciples. In Matthew 26:26b-28 Jesus mentions the word “Covenant”, which is a relational commitment to work toward a common goal. Jesus made a commitment to forgive the sins of those who put their faith in Him, restoring the relationship between God and humanity.
As part of our first communion service of the New Year, we will include a Covenant Prayer, an affirmation and a commitment to Jesus – an act of saying “yes” to Jesus for the year ahead, a recommitment to one another as a church family as we continue our journey together, and committing ourselves to sharing the Good News of Jesus with those who don’t yet know Him in 2022.
