Thy Kingdom Come
A period of 10 days between Ascension and Pentecost, it’s a global prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray for more people to come to know Jesus. Horsham Churches Together are encouraging people to sign up to their Virtual Prayer Facebook Group, which will be regularly updated during that week, and also to sign up for an hour of prayer in their 24-7 prayer event. Horsham Churches Together have also provided “Prayer threads”, some Prayer Pointers and a double-sided A5 ‘Pray for Horsham Booklet’ which can be printed up. There is also a digital Family Prayer Adventure Map for young families that can be downloaded and printed at home (A4 size) and works with an augmented reality app.
So, what is Thy Kingdom Come?
Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray for more people to come to know Jesus. What started in 2016 as an invitation from the Archbishops of Canterbury and York to the Church of England has grown into an international and ecumenical call to prayer.
After the very first Ascension Day the disciples gathered together, devoting themselves to prayer while they waited for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Like them, our reliance on the gift of the Holy Spirit is total – on our own we can do nothing. During the 11 days of Thy Kingdom Come (21st May to 31st May), it is hoped that everyone who takes part will:
Deepen their own relationship with Jesus Christ
Pray for 5 friends or family to come to faith in Jesus
Pray for the empowerment of the Spirit that we would be effective in our witness

What’s Happening in Horsham?
Horsham Churches Together (HCT) are hosting a 24-7 Prayer Room during the 11 days of Thy Kingdom Come. You can sign up to pray for an hour at www.24-7prayer.com/signup/0b9f81. Horsham Churches Together have also created a prayer booklet, with specific daily prayers for each day, and also creative prayer threads to help you pray. Download and print from www.horshamct.org.uk/events.

For adults, there is a Prayer Journal, which you can read online or print at home. And for families, there is a printable prayer adventure map, which comes with an exciting augmented reality app that will help families pray together in a fun and creative way. How is Life Community Baptist getting involved?
Well, we’re encouraging everyone to spend time in prayer this week. Why not sign up for an hour as part of the 24-7 Prayer Room, go for a prayer walk down your street, start praying for others who don’t yet know Jesus or find a quiet place where you can simply be in the presence of God. It’s not about how long you pray or how you pray, it’s about spending time with God and drawing closer in relationship with Jesus.
During our online service on Sunday 24th May, we will be worshiping through song, reflecting on Elijah meeting with God at Mount Horeb, then split up into breakout rooms to pray together. After the service, there is an afternoon of worship with Big Church Day Out at www.youtube.com/bigchurchdayout, followed at 8pm by Wildfires Festival, with three evenings of worship, prayer and music at wildfiresfestival.com/wildfires-online, with a vision to “fan into flame the next Great Awakening.”
During the week, we’re encouraging Life Groups to prayer together for one another, for our frontlines, for our communities and for our world.
Then on Pentecost Sunday, at our online service on 31st May, we’ll be worshipping and crying out to God with a longing to see a new wave of the Holy Spirit flow over our land.
